PART ONE. 1950 - 1980: THE BLACK AND WHITE YEARS

These are images chosen, from the ancient sedimented deposits of my archives, to illustrate the various stages of my 'career' so far. The images on this page date from the Cambrian to the Jurassic Ages. More recent geological periods may be excavated and exposed in the future, but I can't stand seeing my silly face any more just at the moment. (Oh the beards, the mustachios, the neckerchiefs...)

I have chosen only images that are directly related to my musical life, and I've not included photographs of my theatre work or movie productions. These may come later, if anybody wants to see them. Hardly any of these pictures have been published before. Sadly I cannot remember who took most of the photographs, even though I know they were done by people doing me a favour. Please forgive. Any image-makers who recognize their work here should get in touch with me. Please respect the photographers' copyright in all these images.
