Maxwell Hutchinson had a unique guitar style which combined the hyper-percussive rhythm technique of the best Beat group guitarists with an ability to create solos of irresistible outrageousness. Atonality and counter-rhythms were freely deployed in a way I have never heard equalled. Max's solos always make me smile, and sometimes fall about laughing. He is also responsible for writing some of the very best tunes I have ever heard.
